PREVIEW | WOLLATON RESERVES VS KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE RESERVES
COUNTY CUP FOR THE RESERVES
UP NEXT, After no fixture last weekend, the reserves take a break from the league as they go into county cup action as they travel to face Wollaton Reserves in the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Trophy.
Having had a disappointing last two matches in which they faced a penalties defeat in the league cup and a loss to the side sitting second bottom in the league, today’s match in the cup will be a welcome change. The recent matches do not detract from how well the team has done so far this season and a return to form cannot be far away.
Wollaton Reserves go into the match in the knowledge that they face a team from two divisions higher in the league and will have no pressure on them for todays match. They sit fourth in division two and have taken seven points from their last three matches. This recent form will make them a testing opposition for the miners.
Kimberley Reserves’ last match was an away trip to face West Bridgford Reserves, who sit second bottom in the NSL Premier Division. Bridgford opened the scoring after fifteen minutes, only for Robert Da Silva to equalise just two minutes later. West Bridgford scored again in the second half and then had a player sent off. Despite this, they defended well and the miners were unable to find an equaliser.
Final score West Bridgford Reserves 2-1 KMW Reserves
Wollaton Reserves faced an away trip to Newark & Sherwood Reserves last weekend. John Pollitt and Oakley Betts scored for the hosts and Tiago Mata and Jericho Bonner scored for Wollaton as the match ended 2-2.
FINALLY
While Kimberley will seem to be favourites for this match, they will not be taking it for granted. We expect a tough match as both will want to progress into the next round of the cup.
See you there
