PREVIEW | NOTTS OLYMPIC VS KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE RESERVES

THE RESERVES ARE UNDER THE LIGHTS IN MIDWEEK FOR THE LEAGUE CUP

UP NEXT, sandwiched in between weekend league fixtures, the reserves make the short trip to Radford to face Notts Olympic in the second round of the NSL Senior Cup.

The reserves go into the match on the back of five wins and a draw from their last six matches, losing just once since August. Having gotten promoted, the team currently sits second in the NSL Premier Division and will have high hopes of progressing into round three.

Notts Olympic find themselves in mid-table after eleven league matches. After a disappointing start to the season, Olympic have struggled for some consistency. Their last four matches have seen two heavy defeats, followed by two wins in a row. They will be hoping that they have turned a corner and take the win and passage into round three this Wednesday evening.

Kimberley Reserves’ weekend fixture was played on Friday night, away at Keyworth Reserves. The two sides went into half time level as neither could find a breakthrough. Chris Neilson sealed the points for Kimberley halfway through the second half as neither side was able to add to the scoreline.
Full Time - Keyworth United Reserves 0-1 Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves.

Notts Olympic were also in action at the weekend, visiting near neighbours, FC Cavaliers at the Forest Sports Zone. A close match was won with twenty minutes of normal time remaining as a free kick was whipped in, headed back and nodded home by Hudayfa Saad

A LITTLE ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

The First Notts Olympic team
One of the original clubs of organised football. Notts Olympic were involved in the FA Cup as early as 1885/86 competing with the likes of Nottingham Forest and Leicester City was once a regular occurrence for Notts Olympic.
Notts Olympic and AC Milan
The incredible history connecting our once dormant non-league club from Nottingham, England and the Italian giants and European super club AC Milan. Our player, their Founder.
Herbert Kilpin, born in Nottingham, just outside the city centre, would grace the colours of Notts Olympic at Forest Recreation ground a stones throw from his house. He moved to Italy to continue his work within the thriving Lace industry, whilst in Italy he got a group together and started a football team, becoming the founder of AC Milan.
The Club Returns
Re-established after decades of absence from the football community. We have a goal of restoring the team to its highest place in history and playing in the old English Association Cup, nowadays more commonly referred to as the FA Cup.

FINALLY

Both teams will be keen to progress in the cup and maintain their recent good form. We expect a great game

See you there
