The battles of the Miners!

The battles of the Miners!

The clinical vs the missed.....

Another day of of missed chances and mistakes prove costly...

The hottest bank holiday on record saw Kimberley MWFC welcome Gedling MWFC to the Stag Ground.

Gedling were flying high following a excellent 4-2 win over West Bridgford only 48 hours earlier.

Kimberley were without Sam Parker and Jack Wood but welcomed back Blake Cooke and Ted Gibbons.

In scorching conditions KMWFC started on the front foot and had two excellent opportunities to take the lead through Robbie Mcnicholas and George Caudwell inside the opening stages.

Kimberley were to rue the missed chances minutes later as the impressive Courtney Hastings gave Gedling the lead after 8 minutes.

Gedling rallied and looked like the team who hadn’t played this weekend as the bombarded the Kimberley goal and Jake Wood was forced into some excellent saves.

Kimberley continued to probe but were limited to only half chances, before a huge penalty shout on 43 minutes when George Caudwell cut inside the box and was brought down but nothing given, and then another challenges immediately asked another question of the referee who once again gave nothing.

On the stroke of half time Courtney Hastings grabbed his and Gedlings second to give them a precious half time lead.

Half time 0-2

Kimberley were forced into an immediate change just after half time when Josh Barr Rostron came off injured and replaced by Alex Goodall.

Goodall made an immediate impact scoring with his first touch after excellent work from Jordan Lambert and George Caudwell.

Kimberley were now growing into the game but all the hard work was done on 55 minutes when Hastings grabbed his hat trick with a superb strike from 35 yards out.

Undeterred Kimberley rallied again with the impressive Ted Gibbons pulling the strings in the midfield and Goodall looking lively up top.

Two glorious chances fell to Marco Giraud but one was well saved by the keeper.

The game was done when substitute Haughton rolled the ball home on 89 minutes wrapping up Gedlings 4-1 victory and an excellent 6 point week for the Miners from Gedling.

There was once again huge disappointment in the Kimberley camp as once again missed chances and mistakes proved costly.

Ant Ward from our management team said

“We are on a journey and there is a process but we have to be better now, we have to stop making costly errors and we now have to be ruthless when the chances arise if we are to compete this season. We have assessed each of the last four games now and the majority of goals conceded have come directly from our errors and these have to stop now and we have to take the chances when they arise well”

“the boys are working extremely hard and the spirit in the camp both around the training ground and the dressing room is excellent as we all know we aren’t far off at all.”

“We have recruited really well but we know are are still one or two short but they have to right for the camp and in the right areas that we have highlighted”

We will be working hard this week in training and I know the squad will be ready for the FA Vase on Saturday.

On a final note a huge thank you from the management team and the all the players for those were came to the game on Monday. 104 through the gate is fantastic and we would all love this to continue and get the support from the town of Kimberley.
