MATCH REPORT | KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE 1-1 BOSTON TOWN

A home point accompanies an encouraging performance

We've been really lucky to have Mia, our journalism student, back at the ground, casting her eyes on what was a very good game of football.

Here's her match report.

Kimberley Miners Welfare were able to take a point from their fixture against Boston Town in a good defensive performance. Kimberley started the game really well after scoring in the seventh minute through their number seven, Declan Brown and assisted by their number four, Nathaniel Peters.

However not too much longer after this Boston Town scored an equaliser in the twenty ninth minute by their number ten to level the score to 1-1. Both teams had a lot chances to take the lead throughout the game, with the miners having four shots off target and Boston Town having five.

In the forty third minute Boston Town thought they had taken the lead but the goal was disallowed and the scoreline remained at 1-1. The second half was mainly dominated by Boston Town, despite this Kimberley Miners Welfare had a very good defensive performance so were able to keep the score at 1-1. In the eighty ninth minute, the home side almost won the game as they hit the post and then a rebound was saved by the Boston Town keeper. They then almost scored against two minutes later, but it was cleared off of the line to keep the score at 1-1.

Overall, it was a good team performance, with Kimberley’s number two, Toby Thompson had a very dominant defensive performance.

Kimberley Miners Welfare are now looking forward on their next game where they will travel to Wisbech to take on Wisbech Town Fc at the Fenland Stadium, who currently sit 16th in the table.

The club are very lucky as Mia has now decided to cover the home matches for the reserves as well, which will give supporters some more insight into the matches at the club. Please feel free to come along and join her at reserves home matches as well as the firsts.
