PREVIEW | HANLEY TOWN VS KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE
A TRIP TO STOKE FOR MORE VASE ACTION
UP NEXT, after a midweek league defeat under the lights at Basford in a torrential downpour, Kimberley travel to Stoke-On-Trent to face Hanley Town in the Isuzu FA Vase second round.
Kimberley go into the match having been humbled in the league in midweek by the likely league champions. Before that, another cup victory saw them progress and continue in what has been a fantastic season so far for the boys. With just two losses in their last fifteen matches in all competitions, the miners know that they are capable of victory today if they play the way they can.
Hanley Town are currently unbeaten in the league, having won eight and drawn five from thirteen matches played so far. These draws have seen them sitting third in the Midland League Premier Division. Their only loss this season so far came in the FA cup against Stourbridge. Hanley have already faced opposition from the UCL Premier Division this season, beating Belper United 5-2 in August.
Kimberley’s last match was a midweek match under the lights at Basford as they welcomed Sherwood Colliery on a night of torrential rain. Sherwood opened the scoring in the first two minutes after a shot came back off the bar and landed at the feet of an unmarked striker for an easy finish. Kimberley scored two in four minutes through Kole Lambert and Sacha Markelic to lead after thirteen minutes. Sadly, that was the end of Kimberley’s involvement in the game as the next eighty minutes was total domination from an excellent Sherwood Colliery team. Three goals before half time saw the sides go in at the break with the score at 4-2 to Sherwood. Three more goals in the second half rounded off a miserable night for the mariners.

Hanley Town go into today's match on the back of a dominant 5-2 away win over Stone Old Alleynians. Eden Bailey opened the scoring on eight minutes before Devante Ramsay equalised three minutes later. Max Van Der Laan, Lewis Porter and Tommy Van Der Laan added more goals to go in at half time 4-1 up. Josh Bowden added a fifth immediately after the restart before the hosts bagged a second through Jack Tomlinson on fifty six minutes.
