THREE WINS FROM THREE GAMES AT THE WEEKEND

Here are the results of the matches played on the 4th and 4th of October

Saturday the 4th of October

On Saturday, the miners welcomed Eynesbury Rovers to a changed “home” venue of Ilkeston Town’s Microlise New Manor Ground in the league cup. The match started quickly and the referee pulled his yellow card out within the first two minutes for a heavy tackle from Tom Hilton. The visiting bench set their tone for the match by asking for the Kimberley player to be sent off. A close half saw the deadlock broken five minutes before the break as Josh Timson, high in confidence, smashed in a rocket from thirty yards. Centre Back Ollie Ball added a second on the stroke of half time, rising like a salmon to nod in a Dan Tuck corner. Eynesbury came out with nothing to lose in the second half and put the pressure on the miners from the kick off. After winning a soft free kick, Lewis Lynn expertly fired in the dead ball into the top corner for 2-1. Five minutes later, Eynesbury thought they’d equalised after a good cross was sent into the box and the ball bundled into the net. This was ruled out for a foul as an Eynesbury player pushed Max Thornbury into a jumping Ed Cooper in goal who was flipped over, landing on his head and being knocked out. Eynesbury then stuck the ball into an open net. Again, the away bench were apoplectic, this time feeling that the goal should have stood irrelevant of a foul or a serious injury to the Kimberley goalkeeper. With the goal chalked off and ten minutes of injury time, Max Thornberry replaced Cooper in goal as Zach Sandhu came on to replace the outfield spot. On 66, Ollie Ball grabbed his second of the game after a mazy run from Josh Timson left him with a straightforward finish from six yards. Eynesbury grabbed an injury time consolation through Victor Osobu.
Final Score Kimberley Miners Welfare 3-2 Eynesbury Rovers

The Reserves made the trip to face Ruddington Village in the league. Brad Mee opened the scoring after just seven minutes to take a lead into half time. Louis Fazal doubled the lead eleven minutes into the second half, followed two minutes later by Rob Da Silva. Bernard Ankamah made it four with fifteen left on the clock. Ruddington grabbed a consolation with five minutes remaining through Daniel Mansfield.
Final Score - Ruddington Village 1-4 Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves

Sunday the 5th of October

Our EMPAL side travelled to Arnold where they faced FC Longbow. A very straightforward game saw Kimberley bag six times unanswered through Zach Beer, Josh Gaughan, a hat trick from Nathan Hicklin and a goal from substitute Myles Smith to wrap things up for the miners.
