Here's a late review of what happened last weekend.
Saturday the 18th of January
On Saturday, the first team hosted mid table Melton Town at The Stag Ground. Having been well and truly beaten in the earlier league fixture, the miners were keen to take revenge along with searching for back to back victories for the first time this season. Melton started much the better side and the opening ten minutes was backs to the wall for the home side. The miners gradually grew into the match and eventually edged the first half. The second half was an even affair, with neither side able to make the breakthrough until Dan Tuck smashed in from the edge of the box late on after an Aaron Coyle pass. Coyle then doubled the lead on 90 minutes after following up a penalty that he had saved to make it 2-0 and a second win in a row for Kimberley. The survival fight is very much on.
The Reserves had no fixture this week.
Sunday the 12th of January
Our Empal team welcomed Ruddington Village to Digby Street in the league. Nathan Hicklin scored twice for Kimberley as they went down 4-2 leaving the miners rock bottom of the league.
The LESL Team away fixture against Field Lane saw a number of our under 18's make a senior debut as the team had a lot of players missing due to the Nottingham Forest match in the afternoon. Alex Neilson, Jordan Sharpe and Greg Simmons scored the Kimberley goals in a 3-3 draw.
The under 18's had no fixture, freeing up players to join the Long Eaton Sunday League team for the morning.
The vets had no match this week.
We hope to have a full programme for next weekend
