General manager and first team assistant manager Danny Staley has today stepped down from his position as assistant manager and has taken up a new role at the club of director of football while keeping his general manager role.

Danny joined Ant Ward's coaching team midway through the 2024/25 season during a period of intense turmoil which saw two assistant managers come and go, with the team languishing at the bottom of the United Counties League Premier Division North and out f all of the cup competitions.

Danny helped Ant in stablising the team and a fantastic run from January 2025 saw results improve dramatically, culminating in survival on the final day of the season.

The good fortunes continued into the new season with the team sitting top of the league in October, all the while with the teams playing home matches away from the Stag Ground as the new clubhouse was built.

Sadly, the good start to the season was unsustainable for the entire campaign and while our position in the division slipped into the lower half of the table by the end of April, we were safe in the division and had reached the Notts FA Senior Cup final at Mansfield Town last Tuesday.

As well as helping Ant with the team, Danny has been instrumental in getting the clubhouse over the line and open before the end of the season and has also played a huge part in the club having new floodlights installed over the last few weeks, which have improved our evening offering massively in our facilities as well as being able to actually see whats happening on the pitch once the sun has gone down.

With the club now looking forward to better times off the pitch, Danny has taken the decision to focus on that along with the recruitment and retainment of players, while Ant gets chance to concentrate fully on moving his team forward for the next season.
