AFTER A WEEKEND WASHOUT FOR ALL OF OUR TEAMS, THE RESERVES ARE IN ACTION AT THE STAG ON TUESDAY NIGHT

UP NEXT, weather permitting, Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves welcome Keyworth United Reserves to the Stade Du Stag. After a weekend where the majority of fixtures were cancelled due to the weather, the miners find themselves still sat at the top of the league having played more matches than anybody else. With Tuesday night’s match being the only fixture, Kimberley have a chance to increase the pressure on the teams below them.

Keyworth United Reserves come to Kimberley on the back of a mixed bag of recent results. With three wins and three draws from the last six matches, Keyworth will look for consistency in a bid to move themselves away from the bottom end of the table.

Kimberley’s last match was a top of the table clash against unbeaten AFC Colsterworth just over a week ago. Colsterworth took the point through a single goal from Eathan Milne. The result put Colsterworth firmly in the driving seat for top spot, having four games in hand on Kimberley at the top and Bingham in second spot.

Keyworth United Reserves was one of the teams able to play at the weekend due to their fantastic facilities and 4G pitch at Platt Lane. Their guests for the afternoon were sixth placed AC United. A straightforward 90 minutes saw the visitors take all three points with a 4-1 win.

LAST TIME AROUND

The two sides met in February at The Stag Ground in the 2023-24 campaign. Goals from Ben Southwell and Callumm Wolloch were matched by a brace from Robert Da La Silva Makamu for Kimberley to leave the teams with a 2-2 draw.

The away match at Keyworth was in October last year. All of the goals were scored in the first half as Tom Siswick and Niall Wilkinson scored for Keyworth and Luca Burton, Dan Walker and two from Matt Dickinson gave Kimberley the three points.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

Keyworth United Community Football Club plays in the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division. The club is a FA Charter Standard Club affiliated to the Nottinghamshire County Football Association.

They played in the FA Vase in the 1980s. On 24 July 1988, Brian Clough brought Nottingham Forest F.C. for a pre-season friendly down to face Keyworth United F.C. at the Platt Lane ground. The match resulted in a 7–0 victory to Nottingham Forest in front of an estimated crowd of over 2000 people in attendance. Visiting manager, Brian Clough spent almost the entire afternoon signing autographs and conversing with the spectators.
At the time of this game Nottingham Forest F.C. were third in Division 1 (Football League First Division) at the time and went on to be the seasons League Cup winning team and finish third yet again at the end of the season.

FINALLY

Both sides will head into the game in search of victory. Kimberley will want to keep taking points in their quest for promotion. Keyworth need to pick up some points to move themselves away from any threat of relegation.
