UP NEXT, the reserves are back at The Stag Ground where they welcome Awsworth Villa in the second of two HUGE local derbies in two days after the firsts faced Eastwood CFC on Easter Monday.
Kimberley will come into the match in good form, having won three in a row over the last few weeks. This run has gotten the miners back on track after a minor blip of four defeats from the previous five matches. With second spot unlikely, the team will want to continue this run to overtake the teams above them and make the most of their games in hand in the final few weeks of the season.
Awsworth will make the very short trip to The Stag Ground also in great form all apart from two of their matches in 2026, with some big wins along the way. Although they are twenty points behind runaway leaders Cotgrave, they have four games in hand on top spot and three games in hand on Bingham who sit in third place level on points. Five wins and a draw from the eight remaining matches will guarantee second spot, while winning them all may not be enough to catch Cotgrave at the top.
On Saturday, the reserves played their first match of the Easter period as they welcomed Arnold Town to The Stag Ground.Brad Mee scored two minutes from each and of the first half with a goal from Gerrard Hallam for Arnold sandwiched in between. A goalless second half saw the miners through to three points and take revenge for an earlier defeat in the season.
Final Score - KMW Reserves 2-1 Arnold Town
Awsworth had their match postponed over the weekend, meaning their last fixture was an away trip to Aslockton & Orston on the 28th of March.Darren Fotso, Mason Proctor-Smith, Josh Rae and Robbie Manners were on the scoresheet in a dominant win for Awsworth.
Final Score - Aslockton & Orston 0-4 Awsworth Villa
LAST TIME AROUND
In late August, the miners made the short trip to Shilo Park to face neighbours Awsworth Villa. The home side dominated the first half with a very physical display. Awsworth took the lead midway through the half and led 1-0 at the break. The hosts doubled their lead minutes into the second half before Brad Mee grabbed one back for Kimberley. Awsworth however restored the lead with ten minutes to go and took the win 3-1.
