UP NEXT, the reserves travel to the Forest Sports Zone to face FC Cavaliers after three weeks of attempting a county cup match which was ultimately settled last weekend.
Over that period, other teams in the division have been able to play up to three matches. This has seen the miners slip to sixth in the league with games in hand to play. The Kimberley team is in good form, although the four match unbeaten run is spread from the end of November through to mid-January.
FC Cavaliers play host to the reserves and present what will be a tough challenge as they are scrapping for their lives at the bottom of the league table. From nineteen matches over the season so far, Cav’s have lost all apart from one draw and a win three matches ago in early December. The win came in the form of 1-0 away from home against second placed Aslockton and Orston. This alone shows that FC Cavaliers cannot be underestimated.
Kimberley’s last match was a third attempt at completing a county cup tie against Hucknall Town Reserves. A straightforward match saw the miners through to the next round. Brad Mee opened the scoring in the first half and added a second seven minutes into the second half. Dan Walker made it 3-0 on the hour mark and substitute Louis Fazal made it four with three minutes to go.
Final Score - KMW Reserves 4-0 Hucknall Town Reserves
FC Cavaliers hosted West Bridgford Reserves last weekend. Faris Sidahmed scored for Cavs, while Jordan Catchpole scored for West Bridgford.
Final Score - FC Cavaliers 1-1 West Bridgford Reserves
LAST TIME AROUND
The Reserves were at home in September to face a potential banana skin against bottom side, FC Cavaliers. Such worries were put to bed in the opening thirteen minutes as Dexter Cooper opened the scoring on seven minutes and Alfie Newbold doubled the lead six minutes later. It took another twenty two minutes for a change in the scoreline as Kimberley added four goals in nine minutes to kill off the game. Bernard Ankamah scored on thirty five and doubled his tally just four minutes later. Owen Evans bagged his second of the season on forty two and Brad Mee got in on the act a minute before the end of normal time in the first half. Cavaliers grabbed a consolation seven minutes into the second half before Dan Walker, and two more for Alfie Newbold completed the rout for a fantastic result and their second highest win this calendar year.
FINALLY
The reserves will be looking to take all three points and restart their crusade towards second spot. We hope for a positive result.
